Killer boots man

Breaking out my boots is the perfect way for me to start feeling the fall spirit. And as in most years I plan to add to my collection with a new updated version. Luckily for my lower back and wallet there are plenty of lower heel styles this year that are surprisingly budget friendly. And with the way the market is going right now, I would dare to say these are a much better investment.

Harvest Fest Fashion Show

Well I made it to the Harvest Fest Fashion show despite having to attend two weddings that same day. And it was well worth the hustle that it took to get there. Of course I couldn’t miss Little Rock’s own Project Runway star Korto Momolu. But, I was also blown away by the rest of the designers, three of which showed for the first time at Harvest Fest. Not to mention 12 year old Augusta Fitzgerald, who sews and designs all of her own pieces!

I do however, have to apologize for the quality of some of the pictures. It wasn’t easy trying to get pictures of the models while sitting behind two women with quite large hair and not to mention the camera tripod that shows up later. Regardless, I had a fabulous time and can’t wait for next year!

Katheryn Richardson –
Katheryn’s first collection for Box Turtle featured adorable separates in creme, bronze, and black. Details included girly ruffles and over sized collared jackets. I was amazed by the finishing piece which was a gorgeous long black pin-striped dress.

Jamie Jennings -
Jamie also used a fall inspired palette of rich browns and cremes with pops of dark purple and a gorgeous floral print that she paints on the fabric herself. The highlight for me was the off the shoulder top and floral mini skirt topped off with the necklace that Jamie also designed.

Morgan Peterson -
The last of the first time designers, Morgan's collection featured flirty little dresses, mini skirts and mostly neutral colored tights. Bright pops of red, yellow, and orange with a few hints of metallic were a nice surprise for fall. Morgan made all of the hats, clutches, and some of the shoes her models wore. The hats were gorgeous!

Augusta Fitzgerald -
Did I mention already that she is 12! Absolutely adorable and perfectly age appropriate. Augusta used mainly black, but upped the fun factor with bright patches of color. Floppy hats, leggings, and striped socks finished off the looks.

Missy Lipps -
Missy's vintage inspired collection was fabulously decadent with strings of pearls, sashes, ruffles, and lace. These dresses were the perfect mix of sexy and sophisticated...perfect for the lady who lunches...and maybe enjoys a cocktail or two.

Cropped Pleated Trousers

These may take some getting use to for all you skeptics out there. But, I think they are a great alternative to pants or dresses for the weird in between season time that we are in now.
Plus, the menswear look is so in for the fall. Keeping the look crisp without looking too slouchy is tricky though. So, here are some looks I found on the thesartorialist.com website.

Keep it in all neutrals like the lady below.

or...add a preppy argyle vest(so gossip girl) and a bright red clutch.

you can't go wrong with all black either...
I found these gems at asos.com.
These are also from asos.com. Blazer + trousers + Heels = perfect menswear look!
I just purchased these from Forever 21. I plan to wear them right now with some black strappy heels, then later in the fall wearing them with black ankle boots. I hope to not look like the fashion victim that I sometimes do. Feedback would be great.

Gossip Girl Style

Is it just me or has everyone else been dying for a show where you tune in mainly for the funky fashion inspiration...not to mention the steamy storylines. While Gossip Girl is no Sex and the City, it gives me the fix I need each week for cutesy styling that I am not brave enough to try here in Little Rock. Needless to say, I am currently obsessed with the "school girl prepster" style.

So, imagine my excitement when I found these pictures that Eric Daman(the style genius behind the looks on GG) did for Revolve clothing's website.

Take a looksie...

So I set out to find some GG inspired pieces for a girl on a budget like myself. Here's what I came up with...enjoy!
