Front Row

There was an interesting article on Fashionista.com a few weeks ago about celebrities and what they get paid to attend fashion shows. Yes you heard it right, not only do they get invited but they get PAID to go!! Can you imagine?! I would give up a kidney to stand in the farthest corner of Marc Jacobs and these celebrities make money! At first glance I felt sorry for Kristen Bell, poor thing she only gets her airfare, make-up and clothing paid for. So not fair!
Well at least the cast of Jersey Shore feels my pain...

MK & A

I read an article a few months ago on the style.com blog about the impact the Olsens twins had on fashion the past decade. I couldn't agree with the article more. Check it out here at http://www.style.com/stylefile/2009/12/what-would-the-00s-have-been-without-the-olsens/ My favorite is how the made the starbucks cup a fashion accessory. Brilliant. On the other hand I wasn't a huge fan of the bag lady period. I think the Olsens are back on their game and better than ever!

Where it all started! Leggings, cowboy boots, big scarf, and coffee mug of course.

Not so good bag lady style.

One of my favorites.

London Fashion Week

London fashion week is definitely more interesting than NY to say the least. I have to try and keep an open mind looking through some of the runway pictures because I know London style is probably way ahead of fashion here in the states.
So here are my favorites... and some of the crazies!

Military inspired coats @ Burberry Prorsom.

Here's where it gets ugly people...

Cut-out catwoman jumpsuit and Scary make-up @ Hannah Marshall.

Lame' Bag

I admit it. I'm obsessed with Forever 21. I browse their website everyday for new arrivals. I know they rarely come up with designs of their own. Their knockoffs are just too cheap to pass up though!

I spotted this American Apparel Lame' bag several months back. I thought it would be perfect if I worked out. And that maybe if I bought it, I would be more likely to go to the gym since I would have this cute 80's era flashdance gym bag. It currently sells for $26. Not too bad really.

Photobucket

But... Look what I found on Forever 21's website today! For a mere $10.80!! I am not sure if its the price tag but I think I like it better anyways.

New York Fashion Week... The Good, The Bad, and the Just plain Boring!

At the very top of my bucket list is to attend New York fashion week. And when I say attend, I mean actually get to see a fashion show. Not just stalk the models and socialites outside of the tents. Not sure how I am going to make that happen just yet, but that's beside the point.
I have looked through most picture of the fashion shows from New York, and I must say I am pretty underwhelmed. Most designers seemed to have played it pretty safe this year. I despise the fact that there are so many celebrity fashion lines now, well except for Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. Celebritys need to stick to acting and let fashion designers take care of the runway shows. I also noticed how many animals must have been skinned for all the furs!! Every designer had tons of fur on the runway! So cruel. Hopefully some of them are faux furs. Where was PETA with their sacks of flour and red paint?? Hmmm Maybe that's how I will make it into a fashion show...
Well, here goes my run down of last weeks festivities.
Carolina Herrera~
The hats were beautiful! Rich velvet, plums, sequins, and of course beautiful gowns.
Photobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket
Cynthia Rowley~
I love her! Her clothes and style are just so cool to me.
Puffy scarf. What a cool idea!
Photobucket
Weird eyelash thingys...
Photobucket
Jason Wu~
This dress is adorable. His clothes are so feminine.
Photobucket
Alexander Wang~
Fashions favorite hipster has done it again. I loved this collection. The hair was kinda weird and there was this one velvet ruched mess. But check out this camel coat! It looks so rich and soft. I would love to own it!
Photobucket
Not loving this one though.
Photobucket
Marchesa~
More pretty dresses. I especially loved this hot pink number. And who doesn't love butt ruffles!
Photobucket
Oscar de la Renta~
This is what I would wear to an awards show... if I were famous.
Photobucket
Phillip Lim~
Photobucket
I love this criss-crossed suspenders.
Photobucket
Marc Jacobs~
Minus the fur, this sparkly belted raincoat is amazing!
Photobucket
Naeem Khan~
Wow. The pompadour and major bling was back with a vengeance!
Photobucket
Nanette Lepore~
This coat is beautiful!
Photobucket
Gorgeous beading.
Photobucket
I also love the hair at this show. It was all about soft flowy waves.
Photobucket
Zac Posen~
Adorable flouncy little frock.
Photobucket
Rebecca Taylor~
I loved how her models were styled. The shorts and coats were amazing. I would wear everything in this collection.
Photobucket
Photobucket
Tibi~
Photobucket
Are these pants or a skirt? Either way I love them!
Photobucket
The hair and make-up were great too. Curls and soft pink lips and cheeks.
Photobucket
Isaac Misrahi~
This dress looks like a sequined reptile. Amazing
Photobucket
Are these raincoats for shoes?
Photobucket
A furry purse backpack.
Photobucket
J.Mendel~
This dress is gorgeous! I hope to see it at the Oscars.
Photobucket
Tory Burch~
There seemed to be lots of dresses that resembled armor on the runway this season. I especially loved this one.
Photobucket
Tommy Hilfiger~
I love Tommy's take on the classic duck boot.
Photobucket

Now for the bad.
An ottoman hat at Narciso Rodriguez. Not good.
Photobucket
A puffy pirate shirt at William Rast. Come on JT!
Photobucket
Also at William Rast... Biker Pocahontas. Leather fringe... Eek!
Photobucket
Snakes on a Mutha F@#n Runway at ThreeASfour.
Photobucket
Scary model at Rodarte.
Photobucket
Bad hair and even worse clothes at Jeremy Scott.
Photobucket
Also at Jeremy Scott. Cheap looking bedazzled sweater plus "I dream of Jeanie" hair. Very bad combo.
Photobucket
Hey look I killed an innocent animal and made gloves out of it! @ Brian Reyes
Photobucket
Please no Betsey Johnson!
Photobucket
And for my worst NY fashion week show for Fall 2010...
Anna Sui. Normally I like her hippie boho looks. Not this season. It was just bad. Flappers, Cruella Deville fur coats, Bad prints, and weird looking models.
I hope she changes it up for Spring!
