New York Fashion Week... The Good, The Bad, and the Just plain Boring!

At the very top of my bucket list is to attend New York fashion week. And when I say attend, I mean actually get to see a fashion show. Not just stalk the models and socialites outside of the tents. Not sure how I am going to make that happen just yet, but that's beside the point.

I have looked through most picture of the fashion shows from New York, and I must say I am pretty underwhelmed. Most designers seemed to have played it pretty safe this year. I despise the fact that there are so many celebrity fashion lines now, well except for Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. Celebritys need to stick to acting and let fashion designers take care of the runway shows. I also noticed how many animals must have been skinned for all the furs!! Every designer had tons of fur on the runway! So cruel. Hopefully some of them are faux furs. Where was PETA with their sacks of flour and red paint?? Hmmm Maybe that's how I will make it into a fashion show...

Well, here goes my run down of last weeks festivities.

Carolina Herrera~

The hats were beautiful! Rich velvet, plums, sequins, and of course beautiful gowns.

Cynthia Rowley~

I love her! Her clothes and style are just so cool to me.

Puffy scarf. What a cool idea!

Jason Wu~

This dress is adorable. His clothes are so feminine.

Alexander Wang~

Fashions favorite hipster has done it again. I loved this collection. The hair was kinda weird and there was this one velvet ruched mess. But check out this camel coat! It looks so rich and soft. I would love to own it!

More pretty dresses. I especially loved this hot pink number. And who doesn't love butt ruffles!

Oscar de la Renta~

This is what I would wear to an awards show... if I were famous.

I love this criss-crossed suspenders.

Minus the fur, this sparkly belted raincoat is amazing!

Naeem Khan~

Wow. The pompadour and major bling was back with a vengeance!

I also love the hair at this show. It was all about soft flowy waves.

Rebecca Taylor~

I loved how her models were styled. The shorts and coats were amazing. I would wear everything in this collection.

Are these pants or a skirt? Either way I love them!

The hair and make-up were great too. Curls and soft pink lips and cheeks.

Isaac Misrahi~

This dress looks like a sequined reptile. Amazing

Tory Burch~

There seemed to be lots of dresses that resembled armor on the runway this season. I especially loved this one.

Tommy Hilfiger~

I love Tommy's take on the classic duck boot.

Now for the bad.

An ottoman hat at Narciso Rodriguez. Not good.

A puffy pirate shirt at William Rast. Come on JT!

And for my worst NY fashion week show for Fall 2010...

Anna Sui. Normally I like her hippie boho looks. Not this season. It was just bad. Flappers, Cruella Deville fur coats, Bad prints, and weird looking models.

I hope she changes it up for Spring!

McQueen

I can't even tell you how upset I was when I found out Alexander McQueen had committed suicide. No, I don't own any of his clothes. I'm pretty sure I couldn't even afford a button off of one of his fabulously made shirts. I've never been to one of his fashion shows, nor have I ever even seen any of his garments in person. That doesn't mean I can't appreciate that his clothes were truly art and the way he presented them was in a league all of his own. Like so many talented artists, lots of times there creations are not fully appreciated until after their death, sometimes years after their death. This was not true for McQueen. Everyone who appreciates any form of fashion knew that he was special. The fashion world will never be the same without him.


McQueen and Lady Gaga were a match made in hoof shoe heaven.

His Spring 2010 collection rocked my face off!

"There was a sparkling, illuminated runway in which two sinister, robotic movie cameras on gigantic black booms ran back and forth, while a screen played Knight's video of Raquel Zimmermann, lying on sand, naked, with snakes writhing across her body.Then the models came out, dressed in short, reptile-patterned, digitally printed dresses, their gangly legs sunk in grotesque shoes that looked like the armored heads of a fantastical breed of antediluvian sea monster. Bad Blogger!

After the holidays I went on a "holiday". I think British people call vacations holidays. As soon as I got back I moved into a new apartment and have been focusing on decorating and getting everything in order. So my closet has been neglected lately and instead of new shoes and dresses I have been buying lamps and an Eames chair. {see below}

Isn't it gorgeous! Its like the Chanel 2.55 quilted leather handbag of chairs! I'm so in love with it. I was also thinking about changing up my blog to be Interior Design (that is how I pay the bills) and fashion focused. I'll keep you updated on those changes when or if they take place. For now I will try to be a better blogger!

High bun

My hair has unintentionally gotten long lately. I didn't mean for it to happen I have just been lazy and not made a hair appointment. I think I will try this look for the holidays and post a picture if it turns out okay ; ) Merry Christmas everyone!!

Carrie Diaries

How exciting! I am dying for this book! It won't be available till April 2010, so we will have to patiently wait till then. The book will be about Carrie as a teenager in high school. It will explore how Bradshaw decided to become a writer and her various friendships and first encounters with romance. I don't think I will ever get enough of Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte.
